What we offer

OptiFi Business Solutions is a small business with the owners being fully involved in working with their customers. We offer two core services with a particular focus on small & medium businesses: outsourced transactional administration & finance and advisory services.

We operate with a low-cost model, and we will help you to work smart by being forward looking, providing quality deliverables at pace and enabling data-driven decision-making. We will easily scale our services up or down, depending on your needs.

If you are a new business, or have an idea for a business we will help set up your new legal entity, register your company if necessary and get you started on Xero.

If you’re already up and running, we can assist you with your basic finance functions and offer new and improved ways of doing things, to free you up to do the things that matter to you.

Meet the team

OptiFi Business Solutions is owned and directed by David and Rae, a powerhouse of knowledge, experience and expertise who have worked together for more than five years. Between them, they have over 60 years of experience in business, corporates and managing finance teams, either working for large corporates or running and directing their own companies.

David Evans, Managing Director

With a background as a Chartered Accountant, David is deeply passionate about providing financial guidance to business owners. He views himself not just an advisor, but as a trusted partner and innovative professional dedicated to the success of his customers.

David has over 30 years' experience working in commercial roles in New Zealand and the UK and with this breath of experience he will bring to your business expertise and timely advice tailored to meet the needs of your business. More recently David has been managing his own small manufacturing business that sells to the retail sector.

David takes a very practical approach in dealing with many of today’s commercial challenges and along with his commercial experience will deliver you a timely and innovative outcome.

Expertise includes CFO duties, system reviews and integrations, process improvements, risk management, business strategy and planning.

Outside of work David enjoys spending time with his family at the beach and in the outdoors, with a specific love for fishing.

Rae Gunn, Managing Director

Rae is a Chartered Accountant Fellow and a Chartered member of the Institute of Directors. Rae has worked in corporates most of her career, with the likes of Air New Zealand, Lion Breweries and DairyNZ and is passionate about supporting businesses, people and teams to thrive.

A senior finance professional with specialist knowledge in business advisory, leadership and management, governance and compliance (for example, accounting standards, Charities obligations, Companies Act, Privacy Act, the Research & Development Tax Incentive regime), Rae has a wide range of experience and expertise to help your business thrive.

A Business Mentor with Business Mentors New Zealand and a mentor for Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, Rae has specific training expertise in listening effectively to understand customers’ needs.

Rae is a certified Executive and Leadership Coach and established a coaching and advisory business late last year, when she left corporate employment.

Outside of work, Rae enjoys her family and friends, crafting and gardening.
